California Cuisine

California cuisine is as varied as the state itself. It’s easy to sample some of the best cuisine California has to offer with a charter bus, coach bus, party bus, mini bus, passenger coaches or school bus chartered from Charter Bus California. Ride in your charter bus in style and comfort as you visit vibrant farmers markets filled with fruits and vegetables that are in season year-round, acres upon acres of lush vineyards, or dine al fresco at small boutique restaurants using farm fresh ingredients.
A good way to start a heated debate on your charter bus is by asking where you can get the best tacos in California. To settle that debate, head over to La Taqueria, in the Mission district of San Francisco. The grilled carne asada style taco that is served here melts in your mouth. The setting may be casual, but it’s not one of the cheaper taco places. Free seating means you rub shoulders with a very diverse crowd, and La Taqueria is popular with charter bus visitors and the before party crowd.
If you and your group are down in Santa Monica in your charter bus, visit Michael’s Restaurant for a comfortable and romantic dining experience. This restaurant prides itself on market fresh ingredients, and assembles them in a creative, inventive manner that epitomizes California Cuisine. This is paired with a very sophisticated wine list that includes selections from Michael's own The Malibu Vineyard. If your charter bus group is lucky, you are likely to spot some of the celebrities who frequent this restaurant.
For the charter bus group that are adventurous in their tastes, you need to try Son of a Gun, in Los Angeles. Building on the success of their first venture, Animal, Chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo are taking traditional seafood and redefining their taste by combining them with exotic new ingredients. Simple beach shack style food is made complex and vice versa in this low key, minimalist restaurant, continuously surprising diners with items such as smoked fish dip and alligator schnitzel, or their crowd favorite, lobster roll with celery and lemon aioli.
You won’t get much more Hollywood than Lucques. Located in a former carriage house that belonged to silent film star Harold Lloyd, Lucques serves rustic Mediterranean cuisine give a special California twist by Chef Suzanne Goin. Using some intriguing selections from local farmers markets, Lucques ever changing menu reflects both the seasonal availability of produce and the inspiration of Chef Goin. Showing off for charity

Many group travelers use hire buses from Charter Bus California for their transport needs to move around California. What they might not know is despite California’s current penchant for ecology friendly practice, organic, healthy food and fuel saving hybrid vehicles, California was once, and in certain places, still is, the premier place for car hot-rodding and modification in the United States.
As one of the states where owning an automobile is a necessity, not a luxury, California celebrates all that is best about the car. And there is no place better where this happens than the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Held every year in the third week of August, the Pebble Beach Concours is a place where the most elegant automobiles congregate to be shown and judged.
Racing was the start of the Concours. In 1950, the Concours was held as an adjunct event to the Pebble Road Race. An initial field of 30 cars was shown. Held at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, the Concours has grown today to become the ultimate classic car show competition in the world. The Concours is held to raise money for charity, and for 56 years has helped the United Way of Monterey County and the Pebble Beach Company Foundation. In 2010, it raised over $1 million for charity, and the Concours has donated $14 million to various charitable organisations over the years.
Show cars from all over the world are invited to participate in the Pebble Beach Concours. Entry requirements are stringent, and owners spend hundreds of thousands of dollars preparing their cars for competition. Cars that are shown include many automobile rarities, and cars with a famous lineage. Typical car values run into millions of dollars, and it was once estimated that the 2006 field at the Concours saw over $200 million worth of vehicles on display.
Having won a class prize at the Pebble Beach Concours, a car may not again be entered into competition for the next 10 years, unless the car has changed ownership, been restored, or the marque is of special interest. Attending the Concours is a great way to see some very interesting and obscure automobiles, and Pebble Beach is very much a social gathering as it is a car show.
Although there have been some comments that the Pebble Beach Concours is biased towards the wealthy who can afford to spend large amounts of money in caring for and restoring a car, a visit to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and the town of Pebble Beach, will be an enjoyable experience.
